  • Geologists from Dibrugarh University have discovered belts of uranium ore in east central areas of Karbi Anglong district. The geologists claim that the rich occurrences of iron, platinum, titanium and vanadium ores in the area hold much promise for further exploration
  • The State Cabinet today decided to allow e-auction for commercial use of granite, silica sand and china clay, while, the Water Resources Department has been asked to carry out pilot project to identify the new industries that can be set up by using the sand collected from dredging of the bed of the river Brahmaputra.
  • Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today announced implementation of the 7th CPC for over 2 lakh employees and pensioners of the State with effect from October 1 this year.
  • Weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga scripted history by winning India’s maiden gold medal at the Youth Olympics, claiming the top honour in the men’s 62kg category.
  • Assam is going to take baby steps for a giant leap as the State will soon witness its first ever structured youth league dedicated to kids. The league is likely to be held in between November and December next.
