  1. Amitava Sinha, Superintendent of Police, Goalpara, was today convicted in a case of custodial torture by the Court of District and Sessions Judge, Guwahati. The court found Sinha guilty of voluntarily causing grievous injury to an accused to extort confessions in police custody.Sinha was convicted under Section 330 of the Indian Penal Code and was awarded imprisonment for two years along with a fine of Rs 50,000.
  2. The 4th International Day of Yoga was today observed across the length and breadth of the State.Thousands, young and old alike, attended the mass exercise and meditation sessions which were organised under various platforms. Yoga sessions were also organised by different educational institutions across the city.
  3. Veteran Congress-turned-BJP MLA Biswabhandu Sen was today elected unanimously as the Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Assembly
