Meghalaya signs MoU with Centre on health scheme

Meghalaya will join the Ayushman Bharat National Health Protection Mission, also known as the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Swashthya Suraksha Mission, on a convergence mode with the Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) transitioning to the National Health Insurance Scheme.Meghalaya Minister for Health and Family Welfare, AL Hek, who was present at the Health Ministers’ Conclave in New Delhi .
The consultative conference was convened by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, which was attended by Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda and Health and Family Welfare ministers from States.

Move to highlight foreign policy issues among masses

As part of its recently launched programme to make the people of the country aware about the foreign policy measures and issues, the Ministry of External Affairs will hold a one-day seminar in Guwahati in the second week of July.
This programme will be for media houses and journalists from across the North East and will be undertaken as part of the new ‘Videsh Aaya Pradesh ke Dwaar’ initiative of the Ministry of External Affairs.
The ministry is also planning to invite academicians and domain experts for the event.

Dr Balit Kumar Deka Award instituted

The Zoological Society of Assam (ZSA) has decided to institute Dr Balit Kumar Deka Memorial Award in memory of Dr Deka, a former Head of the Department of Zoology, Cotton College, who breathed his last on June 19 last year.
The ZSA decision was adopted at its June 7, 2018 executive committee meeting held under the presidentship of its president Priyabrata Lahkar. On behalf of the family of Dr Deka, his wife Anjana Deka moved the proposal.
