1. Army's 'Vijay Prahar' exercise in Rajasthan culminates.

 The Indian Army's 'Vijay Prahar' exercise in which over 25,000 troops of the Jaipur based South Western command participated culminated in Rajasthan's Suratgarh.

 Fighting equipments including tanks, attack helicopters, drones and fighter aircraft were used in the month-long exercise.

2. Signing of MoU between Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India(ALIMCO) & Aravali Power Company Pvt Ltd (APCPL), at Jhajjar, Haryana.

 Rs. 2 Crores for Distribution of Aids and Assistive Devices to Persons with Disabilities at Charkhi Dadri District of Haryana under the CSR initiative of APCPL in the presence of Shri D.R. Sarin, CMD, ALIMCO and ShriN.N.Mishra, CEO, APCPL.

3. 15th Finance Commission constituted advisory council to advise and assist the commission. 

 The six-member council will be headed by the President of Forum for Strategic Initiatives, Arvind Virmani.

 The role and functions of the council will be to advise the commission on any issue or subject related to the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the Commission.

4. Narendra Modi ranked 9th among 75 most powerful globally in Forbes list.

 List that is topped by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

 Modi, who is ranked 9th and Ambani at 32, are the only two Indians on the Forbes World's Most Powerful People list.

5. Walmart acquires 77% stake in Flipkart Group for $16 billion.

 Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal and other shareholders will hold the remainder.

6. Ravi Shankar Prasad launches website of Digital India Internship Scheme in New Delhi.

 Under the scheme, 25 interns will be inducted for a period of three months. 

 The internship is an opportunity for a student to secure first hand and practical work experience under the guidance of qualified and experienced Supervisor and Mentor. 

7. Indian tea records highest ever production.

 Indian tea industry has recorded the highest ever production as well as exports in financial year 2017-18. 

8. VP Shri Venkaiah Naidu visits World Heritage city of Old Guatemala.

 The Vice President of India, Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu visited the historic Antigua (old) Guatemala city  for understanding how it’s rich heritage is being maintained since it was declared as a World Heritage City by the UNESCO in 1979.

9. President Ram Nath Kovind approves Minimum Wages (Delhi) Amendment Act, 2017.

• As per the amendment, the employers violating labour rules in Delhi will now face fine ranging from Rs 20000 to 50000 and jail term of one to three years. 

10. UN Chief Antonio Guterres announces to hold climate summit in September 2019 in New York to review the commitments of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change. 

11. NASA, Uber team up to make flying cars a reality.

 NASA will use the latest airspace management computer modeling and simulation to assess the impacts of small aircraft from delivery drones to passenger aircraft in crowded environments.


1. US President announces withdrawal from 2015 landmark nuclear deal with Iran and reimposed its economic sanctions against the country.

2. Australian court rules lawmakers with dual citizenship ineligible.

• An Australian high court ruled on May 9, 2018 that lawmakers with dual citizenship will be ineligible to hold a parliamentary seat. 

3. China launches new satellite to monitor air pollution.

 China has successfully launched a hyperspectral imaging satellite for comprehensive observation of the atmosphere, including air pollution which is one of the country’s major problems.

4. Beijing to hold World Robot Conference.

 According to the organiser, the conference will greatly stimulate passion and innovation in the robot industry as well as help with research and development.


1. IMF expects India to grow at 7.4% in FY 2018/19.

 The Indian economy is expected to grow at 7.4 per cent in the current fiscal and accelerate further to 7.8 per cent in 2019 as it recovers from the impact of demonetisation and Goods and Services Tax (GST) rollout, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said.

 Journalist Carlos Alvarado has been sworn in as 48th President of Costa Rica. At 39, Alvarado is the country’s youngest president in modern history.

2. “PAWAN  KUMAR  AGARWAL” gets extension as CEO FSSAI.

 Pawan Kumar Agarwal was has given three months extension as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
