It aims to generate mass awareness among  people  about  Noise pollution  As there is no effective law for controlling noise pollution. It has been launched for 90 days and it will be replicated throughout the city.

Arunachal Pradesh Declared Open Defecation Free (ODF)

Arunachal Pradesh has been declared open defecation free after the state announced an incentive of Rs 8,000 in addition to the Rs 12,000-grant provided by the Centre for building toilets.

Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Haryana  declared ODF states in October 2017.

National Register of Citizens in Assam -1st Draft Released


The release of the first draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) containing the first batch of 19 million names of genuine Indian citizens in compliance with the Supreme Court’s orders.

Assam’s CM launches-  “Chah Bagichar Dhan Puraskar Mela” 2017-18

For the Tea Garden Workers.  This scheme will help in financial inclusion of the tea labourers. Assam Tea Garden Workers Scheme will bring tea labourers closer to the banking sector and thus promote cashless transaction. This scheme will give the benefits of the demonetization to the common people. Under this scheme, the workers of the tea community will receive Rs. 2500 in their bank accounts. In addition to this, tea labourers will get another Rs. 2500 in the next phase.

PM Modi’s Official Website Launched in Assamese and Manipuri Versions


The Assamese and Manipuri language versions of PM Official website- www.pmindia.gov.in  launched and  available in 11 regional languages namely Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu in addition to English and Hindi.

Online Portal- NARI by Women & Child Development Ministry


An online portal NARI(National Repository of Information for Women) by Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi inaugurated in New Delhi for the empowerment of women. The portal will provide women with easy access to information on government schemes and initiatives for women

Meghalaya will host the 2022 National Games. 

In this regard, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) accepted Meghalaya’s bid to host the National Games. Meghalaya will be the third northeastern state after Manipur and Assam to host the National Games. The 2022 National Games will coincide Meghalaya’s 50 years of statehood.

Majuli tourism project -foundation laid by Assam CM

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone of the Rs 72-crore Heritage Swadesh Darshan, Majuli Project to boost tourism in the river island.It aims at developing top-class infrastructure in Majuli district to make it a major tourist destination.

Rajinder Khanna was appointed the deputy National Security Adviser (NSA). 

He was the former chief of the country’s external intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). Mr Khanna is at present officer on special duty (Neighbourhood Studies) in the National Security Council Secretariat.

In Iceland now it will be illegal to pay men more than women for the work. Iceland has been ranked by the World Economic Forum (WEF) as the world’s most gender-equal country.

India’s first organic state, Sikkim, looks to boost tourism with AR Rahman on board.

Music composer A.R Rahman became the brand ambassador of Sikkim. The declaration was made by Sikkim CM PawanKumar Chamling.

Rahman’s name will be declared at the inauguration of the 11-day Sikkim Red Panda Winter Carnival at the Palzor Stadium in Gangtok.

‘Khelo India’ Logo- Launched by Sports Minister 


The Khelo India logo, reflecting the freshness, agility and vitality of New India was launched at a ceremony by the Union Minister of State ( I/C) Youth Affairs and Sports Rajyavardhan Rathore in New Delhi.The logo is showing an impression of fitness and competitiveness. The three-stroke Khelo India logo, designed by Ogilvy India, has in-built modularity, allowing plenty of adaptability and flexibility into endless pictorial forms.

Satyakam Phukan’s Legacy of King Narak wins award at International Film Fest 


Dr Phukan has been selected for the second best award for his direction of the documentary the Legacy of King Narak at the December 2017 edition of the 12 Months Film Festival (#12MFF). The film has been produced under the banner of Dr Phukan’s ‘Ri-Mita Bolsabi’.

Earlier, Dr Phukan’s Garbage Bin Meals had won the second best documentary award for the month of May 2017 in the same festival held at Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and the award for the best documentary in the Omichka International Film Festival held in December 2017, Omsk, Russia.

Minister of State (I/C) of the Ministry of Development of NE Region Jitendra Singh announced that Arunachal Pradesh get its first Film and Television Institute, being set up by the Union Government. This would be the second such one in the country.

The first Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) is in Pune.

Pratyush’ – India’s 1st Multi-Petaflop Supercomputer Dedicated to Nation

  1. Union Minister of Earth Sciences Dr Harsh Vardhan dedicated India’s fastest and first multi-petaflops supercomputer named ‘Pratyush’ to the nation in Pune. It is established at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune.
  2. It will be a national facility for improving weather and climate forecasts and services under the umbrella of the Ministry of Earth Sciences.
  3. Related Fact – The fastest supercomputer is the Sunway TaihuLight, in China, with a LINPACK benchmark score of 93 PFLOPS. (as of November 2017)
