Daily current affairs for Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Exams - 6th - 12th October 2017



  1. Writer-cum-social worker Rupeswari Gohain (Dangaria) from Kakopothar was honoured with the Nani Neog Memorial Religious and Social Worker Woman Award by the Tinsukia district unit of Asam Sahitya Sabha (TDSS).
  2.  The Finance Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recommended creation of a Rs 50 crore fund for Infrastructure Development for the North East States.
  3. Barak Namami Festival is scheduled to be held on November 18,19 and 20.
  4. Assam Khadi and Village Industries Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier said around Rs 12 crore will be spent on the project. A pair of khadi shirts will be gifted to each male State government employee, while female employees can choose between a saree and a kurta. There are around 2,46,676 male employees and 55,889 female employees, according to a recent census.
  5. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will set up a research centre in Guwahati for start-ups, academicians, environmentalists and entrepreneurs.
  6. Minister for Health, Education, Finance, Tourism etc., Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that a full-fledged independent cancer hospital will be established at the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College
