9. Supreme Court of India declares Triple Talaq 'unconstitutional'. In a historic verdict, the Supreme Court on Tuesday struck down the Triple Talaq practice in a 3:2 judgment asked Union Government to bring legislation in 6 months. A five-judge bench pronounced the verdict. The five-judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice J.S. Khehar, included Justice Kurian Joseph who is a Christian, Justice Rohinton Nariman who is a Parsi, Justice Uday Lalit who is a Hindu and Justice Abdul Nazeer, a Muslim.
